Experience

I began writing for the University of Warwick's student newspaper, The Boar, in December 2024. My very first article, a review of the last-ever episode of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May's 'The Grand Tour', was published in that month's print edition of the publication.

From then on, I started writing more and more articles across a number of the paper's sections. Thanks to my passions outside of writing including football, baseball, and music, I frequently contribute pieces of work to The Boar Sport and The Boar Music

In my time at The Boar, I have gained lots of experience in quickly producing match reports from local sports fixtures I have attended, such as Enterprise National League North games involving Leamington Football Club and Elite Ice Hockey League games involving Coventry Blaze. As well as covering local sport, I enjoy producing articles from my trips to sporting events in the United States.

Albeit unofficially, I also have experience in editing and uploading articles to the paper's website using WordPress.

Having discovered a passion for journalism writing for The Boar, I began branching out and writing for other publications. In April 2025, I wrote my first-ever article for the United Kingdom edition of sports news website VAVEL, covering my boyhood side Norwich City. It is definitely a challenge producing match reports for as close to full-time as possible when I am watching the game from the stands and not the press box, but it is a skill I enjoy practicing.

The following month, I successfully applied to join the FanSided team to write for one of the group’s sports publications, MLS Multiplex. Initially covering my second-favourite football team, Orlando City, from afar, I travelled to the United States that summer to report on two games in-person for the first time.

For these games in St. Louis, Missouri and then Orlando, Florida I was awarded media credentials, meaning I could enjoy the amenities of the press box before heading down for the post-match press conferences. I interviewed Orlando head coach Óscar Pareja on both occasions as well as forward Ramiro Enrique, helping me to craft my most shrewd analyses of the team's performances yet.

That same summer, I also completed a week's work experience at local Norwich paper, the Eastern Daily Press. During my week there, I got my first taste of a number of fundamental areas of journalism. I interviewed members of the public about what they thought of Norwich City's new manager, attended a coroner's inquest at Norfolk County Hall, and witnessed the sentencing of a convicted rapist at Norwich Crown Court.

Alongside these new experiences, I had a number of pieces I'd written over the course of the week published online and in the print editions of both the Eastern Daily Press and its sister publication, Norwich Evening News.

I continue to write for The Boar, VAVEL, and MLS Multiplex to this day, and hope to make a full-time career out of journalism in the near future.
